CM 104: English Composition I
This is a two semester, six-credit writing course designed to help you write successfully in all of your courses. CM 104 is the first part of the freshman composition requirement and focuses on the instruction and practice in writing and reading English prose, with special emphasis upon individual development. The course progresses from personal experience to critical writing and research, and includes individual instruction and mandatory laboratory work (in CALL) in English grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Special use is made of peer group discussion and other non-traditional teaching techniques. All students must take and pass a Proficiency Examination at the end of CM104 and CM115.
CM 115: English Composition I
This is the second part of a two semester writing course designed to help you become better writers. This course is more focused on academic research and writing done in current MLA style. Skills learned last semester in written presentation are here capitalized on and applied to tem paper projects. Students are also expected to do an oral presentation that involves research and extensive preparation, often including a visual component such as powerpoint. All students must take and pass a Proficiency Examination at the end of CM104 and CM115. View course syllabi
